The release of Dead Rising 2 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 is closing in and that means its time for some “Making Of” videos from Capcom and Blue Castle Studios.  They put four of them out each covering a different aspect of the game from the story and characters to the weapons to the multiplayer.

“Tales of Terror” introduces the story of the game including the universe of Dead Rising where a zombie outbreak is barely contained across the United States.  We also find out about why Chuck Greene is in the Las Vegas-ish Fortune City and what his motivation is for going out to face down countless zombies.

In “Meet Your Neighbors”, Capcom talks about the characters they’ve created for the Dead Rising universe.  Specifically, they talk about the creation of Chuck Greene who they want to be an iconic but non-cheesy American icon.  The team also traveled to Las Vegas and took pictures of the gamblers, dancers and other people you’d in Sin City and then used that as the basis to create their zombie horde.  But the zombies aren’t the only hazard as the humans that Chuck meets along the way can be even deadlier for different reasons.

“Tools of Destruction” introduces the numerous items that will be available to players in order to defend themselves.  Of course, Dead Rising 2 introduces the ability to combine items to make even deadlier weapons.  While the game features 300 weapons there are also 50 combo weapons including the signature paddle chainsaws.

Finally, “Bring Your Friend” discusses how they came up with the co-operative and competitive modes modes in the game.  Series creator, Keiji Inafune came up with the concept of the over the top Terror Is Reality gameshow that allows players to compete against one another in wacky zombie killing games American Gladiator style.  That wasn’t enough though and led to the drop-in, drop-out co-op during the main game.
