The multiplayer sequel to Assassin’s Creed II will be out in just a couple of month’s time for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and Ubisoft announced what players can expect when the multiplayer beta is released at the beginning of October.
The beta will be available on October 4 exclusively for PS3 owners who pre-order the game and include two game modes, two maps and nine playable characters.  The playable characters include the axe-wielding executioner, agile Courtesan, deadly Priest and mysterious Doctor.  Each will have their own special weapons, moves and skills.

Up to eight players simultaneously will be able to use new ways to assassinate their targets in two different modes:

  • Wanted – challenges players to get the higher score by killing their assigned targets and escaping their hunters in clever ways.
  • Alliance – allows players to compete cooperatively in teams of two, fulfill contracts and confuse enemies in tandem.

Both modes will be playable on two different maps located in Rome and Castel Gandolfo.
