EA has let it slip a few times that the Mirror’s Edge franchise is likely to make a return at some point, and now that rumour is gaining even more momentum thanks to Official PlayStation Magazine.

The popular monthly has tipped the sought after sequel to return on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine. “The Frostbite 2 engine will pave the way for Mirror’s Edge to make a free-running return,” the magazine reports.

EA boss Frank Gibeau wasn’t dismissing the idea of Mirror’s Edge 2 using DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine making the comment, “You’ll see that combination I’m sure.”

EA has admitted that it needed time to work out the best way to approach a Mirror’s Edge sequel, and it sounds like work is already under-way.

I think that a sequel will be terrific for this franchise. The gameplay has great momentum and depth. The one thing I love about this game is that no other game has done is the freedom to do parkour. Looking forward to playing this.
