The man behind classic PlayStation titles such as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus has reportedly left Sony.

The source of the report, Eurogamer, says that Fumito Ueda will continue to work on Last Guardian, but once the game is complete, he plans toleave to pursue “personal projects.”

The Last Guardian is a PS3 exclusive in which players control a boy trying to escape a castle. They traverse obstacles and defeat enemies with the help of a giant beast known as Trico.

The Last Guardian has been in development since 2007. It was initially planned for a 2011 release, but was delayed to 2012. Eurogamer is reporting that Ueda’s departure from Team Ico is one of the reasons why the game has taken so long.
