Blizzard officially confirms Diablo III for consoles [Update: Not Confirmed]

UPDATE: We’ve heard from Blizzard this morning – here’s what they had to say.
Bashiok’s response on Twitter was intended as a confirmation that we’re actively exploring the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo III, as we’ve mentioned in the past. This is not a confirmation that Diablo III is coming to any console platform. Our focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo III and making sure it’s a worthwhile successor to the Diablo series.
[Original Story] A console version of Diablo III has been long hinted at through numerous job listings, and today, Blizzard finally made it official.
Micah Whiple, Blizzard’s Community Manager, confirmed the news over Twitter after being asked if Diablo III would make the console jump.
No details were given beyond the fact that Diablo 3 Lead Designer Josh Mosqueira is overseeing the project. Blizzard has previously revealed that they want to build any Diablo 3 experience on the console around the strengths of consoles.
A solid release date is yet to be announced, and only yesterday Blizzard were forced to dismiss internet rumours that Diablo III was going to release early February.
