Wii U twice as powerful as Xbox 360

According to sources close to Develop, Wii U will be twice as powerful as Xbox 360.

With all new hardware launches there tends to be a lot of speculation and misinformation, but Develop is considered to be a fairly credible source. No official specs have been confirmed for Nintendo’s new system, but it is expected to pack in a R700 GPU, and about 512MB RAM.

Despite the increase in grunt, the source claimed that some studios were expecting more from Wii U. “I’ve heard [a project designer] complain it’s underpowered compared to what Nintendo announced, resulting in people having to de-scale their plans,” the source told Develop.

Rumours have emerged this week stating that Xbox 360′s successor will be six times as powerful as the current 360, so the Wii U may end up being underpowered anyway, especially when compared to Sony and Microsoft’s next gen machines.

Nintendo is expected to announce the Wii U launch date and line-up at E3.

They said the Wii was 2 x Gamecube. I’m not sure it was!

How about expecting badass GAMES. Nintendo’s always put gameplay over anything else, so while I’m sure the graphics will be an improvement over the Wii, I’m excited to see what kind of games this will have, and how they’ll incorporate the tablet controller.
