Next Assassin’s Creed game will be set during the American Revolution

Rumours surrounding the next instalment of Assassin’s Creed‘s have surfaced today. According to reports the next title will be set during the American Revolution.
Ubisoft won’t officially be announcing the new game before the end of March, but CVG claims that “a source close to the project” has spilled the beans on the 18th century backdrop and confirmed that the game will feature a new lead character.
Ubisoft hinted at an American setting for the next entry in the series before, having last year included “The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution” as a possible setting in a fan survey.
The publisher hasn’t yet made any comment on these latest rumours. Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, has previously said that the next Assassin’s Creed will be the “biggest to date.”

Ugh! No freaking way. I have nothing against the US, I myself am from North America, but freaking hell man! One of the greatest things about Assassin’s Creed is that it wasn’t set in America at all! America is too narcissistic about its own country. We need more cultural variety!
Sounds awesome. It really fits with the story. I could see the Templars trying to be involved with the creation of the New World Order and such. There’s already a strong history of secret societies and such in America’s founding. You have the Templars pulling the strings, and you could include the Freemasons in there as well.
Honestly, it’s a perfect setting given the story.
@omar Well Ubisoft is a French company so I dont know what your talking about
@Omar I’m pretty sure the main branch of Ubisoft for the AC series is in Canada… so nice fail there
I was really hoping it would be set in the French revolution. The buildings are much easier for assassin’s and such. I don’t know how they can do that with the American Revolution :/

@Aly Maybe the one of this next one will take place during the French revolution, seeing as the American revolution played a part in inspiring the French to revolt.
The problem with America in the 1700s is that there aren’t enough tall buildings. It would be better set in the Napoleonic wars and take place in Paris or London.
