Activision has released the first proper screenshot for The Amazing Spider-Man. The single screen shows Spidey perched high on a building top, looking down on a clean, modern looking cityscape that appears to be quite similar to the one depicted in Mirror’s Edge.

The Amazing Spider-Man is being developed Beenox and will serve as an epilogue story occurring after the events of the upcoming movie reboot. Beenox were also responsible for previous web-slinger inspired titles “Edge of Time” and “Shattered Dimensions”.

The game will be open-world, allowing Spider-Man to swing all over Manhattan and its many wonderful locations.

Activision confirmed Seamus Kevin Fahey, who has penned episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica will be writing the game’s story.

There is no confirmed release date for the game scheduled yet but it is nice to see that is coming along so well. You can watch the debut trailer below.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be released on both Xbox 360 and the PS3.
