Leaked image reveals new Prince of Persia

An unexplained screenshot has been posted on the official Prince of Persia forums, which has led to rampant speculation that reboot is in the works.

Evidence that the above image is indeed from a new Prince of Persia game seems to ring true — it was posted on Ubisoft’s official forums, as well as the appearance of the term “POP_ZERO_2″ which appears near the bottom of the image.

Also worthy of note is the presence of ‘DX11′. Direct X 11 is not available on current generation consoles, so could this be one of the first next gen games?

Prince of Persia was originally developed for by Jordan Mechner for the Apple II. The original and its sequel were 2D platformer but the series shifted to 3D with the release of Prince of Persia 3D in 1999.

There’s been no official announcement from Ubisoft but it’s been a few years since the last Prince of Persia  title so one could argue that a new instalment is about due.
