‘The Art of Journey’ art book coming next month

Sony has announced on their PlayStation Blog that Santa Monica Studios will publish a special hardcover book called “The Art of Journey”.

The book will be released in September, and reveals the artistic development of the massive landscapes and scenes that featured in Thatgamecompany’s PSN exclusive. It will also include “gorgeous concept art, intricate pencil drawings and 3D models” from every step of the game’s development phases.

“Seeing how Journey has resonated with players across the world, we wanted to work with the Santa Monica Studio to provide a deeper look into the visual development behind this critically acclaimed hit”, said Thatgamecompany.

“We’re excited to let everyone know that we will be presenting you with a wonderful first-time look at the extensive artwork that went into bringing Journey to life”.

The book will also come with a free app for smartphones and tablets with cameras that can show special “animated 3D models that appear straight from the game” and a voucher for a free download of the game from the PlayStation Store.
