CD Projekt RED has released a large gallery of Witcher 3 screenshots that show off the game’s next-gen good looks.

The Witcher 3 is being developed using CD Projekt RED’s new REDengine 3 technology. The new engine was created specifically for huge open-worlds RPGs, offering improved tools for spanning truly nonlinear stories based on real player choices and consequences.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be set in an open world 20% bigger than that of Skyrim and 40 times larger than that of The Witcher 2— so large that it reportedly takes 30 to 40 minutes to cross on horseback.

“Players will freely travel through woods, lakes, mountains, cities, and villages. Each region is inhabited by distinct populations with their own customs, legends and problems. The world of The Witcher 3 is 30 times bigger than The Witcher 2,” said Adam Badowski, head of the studio.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released in 2014 simultaneously on all high-end platforms.
