Deus Ex: Human Defiance is a film, not a sequel

CBS Films has registered domain names for their screen adaptation of Square Enix’s iconic cyberpunk shooter.
Earlier this week, we reported that Square Enix had filed a trademark hinting that at a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution could be in the works. Square filed the trademark on Feb. 26, under the name Deus Ex: Human Defiance. At the time Square was remaining tight-lipped, saying the company does not “comment on rumour or speculation.”
Now AGB has uncovered a domain registration for “deusexhumandefiancefilm.com” and “deusexhumandefiance.com” – both were filed by CBS Films last week.
CBS Films hired director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) to develop a film adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution with screenwriter C. Robert Cargill.
“Deus Ex is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson said in a statement. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, Deus Ex is smart, ballsy, and will make one hell of a movie.”
